Ok.
I finally installed the latest version of Menalto's Gallery (Gallery2 - I can highly recommend it!) and I've built my own theme for it.

The slow task of adding all my albums again begins. I tried doing an import but the thing konks out all the time with permission errors and I don't have time to dick around with that sort of thing.

Of particular interest is my album of photos from the drive from Perth to Canberra. They are located here.

Finally moved the server across and having all sorts of little problems...

The gallery is a bit of a mess as it didn't like the move. The photos are intact but the styles are all shot to bits.

Yay, furniture has finally been delivered and we started the slow process yesterday of unpacking.

The main bedroom is pretty much finished as is the lounge. Kitchen at 80% and the study at 60%. Everything else is still pretty much untouched.

I really would like to get the workshop sorted out tonight so I can get a brew going. Here's hoping

I'll try and get some photos up at some stage of it all, but I won't have internet access for a while by the look of it (up to 2 weeks).

Well....

Seeming as I can get fairly high result listings in Google on my site, I though I would let everyone know about Strictly Rentals in Canberra and what they did to us.

Disappointing is one word to describe it. You could also say Strictly Rentals are unreliable and not a good choice if you are looking to rent (or list a house for renting for that matter).

Strictly Rentals took our application for a house which specified in the listing "prefers no pets". As most ads have a strict "no pets" we thought this one was still a possibility (albeit we weren't overly optimistic).

So we submitted an application to Strictly Rentals with our cat clearly visible on the application.

We were over the moon when Strictly Rentals rang up and said we were successful in our application and we assumed that our good references and past rental standings had weighed in favour over having the cat.

To cement our acceptance and to prepare the documentation they requested one weeks rent which we delivered to them the same day.

We proceeded to relax, we rang other agents we had put applications into and told them to withdraw the applications. We didn't bother attending other open home inspections that day or the subsequent day. I mean what was the point. We had been told we had the house and handed over some money.

Tuesday about mid morning, Strictly Rentals shattered our hopes when they rang to say that that they had missed our cat on the application and that the owner was adamant that no pets be allowed on the property.

Just like that..... House gone..... Other potential applications, wiped out....

We even tried to offer $20 a week more if the owner would consider our cat but to no avail.

So, we are back at square one. The number of houses available is very slim and the number that will take a cat is even less.

The rental market sucks and home owners trying to rent their properties who are paranoid about one small cat are just as pathetic.

As for Strictly Rentals, they are totally unreliable, they are untrustworthy, if another property appears from Strictly Rentals I will be hesitant to submit an application.

Avoid Strictly Rentals in Canberra.
