Had a great party on the weekend for family and close friends to say farewell to Perth.

The weather was a little bit on the hot side but everyone seemed to stay fairly cool. I'm still amazed that not one of my kegs ran out. With Geoff AND Emin drinking I was sure that at least one of them would have vanished fairly quickly.

Oh, and, no doubt I will see almost everyone from the party at least once in the next couple of weeks.

In case you missed the news, the National Hotel in Fremantle was destroyed by a fire yesterday.



At this stage it is thought to be arson. This is a sad sad event. Such a beautiful hotel, probably one of the nicest hotel buildings in Fremantle, gone.

I have a number of childhood memories from the National, having been taken to the pub on many occassions with my parents, who knew the owners back in the 70's/80's.

I vividly remember the ice machine for some strange reason. Also, the creaky old wooden staircase and the dark dining room upstairs.

It's been a whirlwind two weeks in our household.

Things are finally starting to ramp up for the move back to Canberra. All dates are set and not too far off.

Our departure date is set for 4th April and we will be travelling across the country with my parents, taking 2 weeks to reach Canberra. Looking forward to the trip.

Anyway, the last two weeks have been full and busy. Andy, a friend from Canberra, was over for his first visit to WA, so I took the week off and showed him all around. We drank way too much beer. There are plenty of photos up from our escapades in the gallery.

This week Rose has been over in Canberra working, so I have been left to my own devices, which generally means quick meals and not much sleep.
